NDMC Launches Project SORT for Waste Management
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started a new project called SORT to manage waste better.
This project teaches people and workers how to separate and process waste.
They have put special bins in 13 places to turn wet waste into useful manure.
The project is supported by the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and funded by the Motherson Group.
So far, they have processed 15 metric tonnes of wet waste and plan to add more locations and improve existing ones.
The goal is to make waste management more efficient and eco-friendly.
NDMC launched Project SORT to improve decentralised waste management in New Delhi.
The project focuses on capacity building, behavioural change, and source segregation of waste.
85 composters have been installed across 13 locations, processing over 15 metric tonnes of wet waste.
The initiative is funded by the Motherson Group through the Swarn Lata Motherson Trust (SLMTT).
NDMC and IPCA plan to expand the project by adding more societies and enhancing existing composting sites.
