UP college revokes permission for Rahul Gandhi's student event
Rahul Gandhi is an important leader in India who wanted to talk to students in the city of Prayagraj.
He wanted to hear their problems, such as leaked exam papers and unfair exam rules.
The meeting was planned for the sports ground of a college called KP College.
But the people who run the college said the meeting could not happen there.
They said a court had ordered that the ground can only be used for sports and school activities.
They also said the ground was wet and muddy after heavy rain.
Rahul Gandhi was not happy about this.
He said the government is trying to stop young people from speaking.
He said he will still come to Prayagraj to meet the students.
His party has asked the government to give them another place for the meeting.
The Kayastha Pathshala Trust revoked permission for Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' student programme at KP College sports ground in Prayagraj, scheduled for Saturday, August 8.
The trust cited an Allahabad High Court order dated August 14, 2025 restricting the ground to sports and educational activities, waterlogging from recent rains, and the requirement of district magistrate approval.
Rahul Gandhi said the BJP government cannot stop him from raising students' voices, accusing it of suppressing the youth through FIRs, lathi charges, and pellet guns.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai said Gandhi will still travel to Prayagraj on August 8 and urged the administration to provide an alternative venue.
Rai claimed Gandhi's programmes in Kota and Dehradun were similarly cancelled, with Dehradun's Parade Ground permission denied on July 17.
