Zurich Inaugurates First Dedicated Bicycle Tunnel
Zurich, a big city in Switzerland, has opened a special tunnel just for bikes under its main train station.
This tunnel connects two parts of the city, making it easier for people to bike around.
It used to be for cars, but they changed it for bikes!
It cost a lot of money, but now people can park their bikes there for free.
You can use bikes, e-bikes, and small electric vehicles, as long as they go slow enough.
This helps people who like to bike, because they didn't have many bike paths before.
Zurich inaugurated a dedicated bicycle tunnel under its main train station during Cycle Week.
The tunnel connects districts 4 and 5, between Kasernenstrasse and Sihlquai.
Originally designed for car traffic, the tunnel was repurposed for sustainable mobility.
The project cost 38.6 million Swiss francs.
The tunnel offers 1,240 free bicycle parking spaces and allows various e-vehicles up to 20 km/h.
