Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot Review Finds Horror-Comedy Unconvincing
Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot is meant to be both funny and scary.
The review says it does not do either job very well.
Vishal Vashishtha is the strongest part of the show.
He plays Baba, a silly police officer who also wants to become an actor.
Baba is not very good at his job, but he tries hard to help the woman he likes.
Asha Negi plays Ali, but the review says she has not been given many chances to stand out.
Joy Sengupta makes a strong impression as Talwar, who has secret and troubling plans.
Overall, the first four episodes are judged disappointing.
Vishal Vashishtha is praised for playing the buffoonish cop Baba.
Vashishtha makes Baba both an inept policeman and an earnest romantic hero.
Asha Negi delivers her lines as Ali but has limited opportunity to shine through Episode 4.
Joy Sengupta surprises as Talwar, a colleague with sinister plans.
The review concludes that the horror-comedy fails to be sufficiently funny or frightening.
