Supreme Court Questions IPS Deputation for CAPF Leadership Positions

The Supreme Court questioned the government about who leads India’s Central Armed Police Forces.

Some leadership jobs are being given to officers from the Indian Police Service.

The court asked whether CAPFs have their own qualified officers for these jobs.

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan pointed to officers who have worked in the forces for 25 to 30 years.

He said many of them had not been given leadership positions.

He also noted that these officers defend borders and make great sacrifices.

The government was represented by Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati.

The article does not report the Centre’s detailed response.
