UTF Protests in Tirupati, Demands Resignation of Education Minister
The United Teachers Federation (UTF) held a protest in Tirupati demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
They blame him for the distress caused to students due to the alleged NEET paper leak and to teachers over issues related to the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
The UTF also wants the National Testing Agency (NTA) to be abolished and NEET to be conducted by state governments instead.
They also condemned the arrest of environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike demanding the cancellation of NEET and reforms in the education system.
The UTF argues that the TET qualification should not be applied retrospectively to appointments made before the Right to Education (RTE) Act came into force.
