Putin Appoints Deputy Defence Minister Bulyga to Security Council
Russia's leader, President Putin, has made a change in his national security team.
He moved a man named Andrei Bulyga from being a deputy defense minister to a new job as a deputy secretary on the country's security council.
This happened after many people in the defense ministry were arrested for corruption, including some who used to be deputy defense ministers.
Bulyga was in charge of making sure the army had what it needed.
Now, another general named Alexander Sanchik will take Bulyga's old job.
The defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, who was criticized for how the war in Ukraine is going, is now in charge of the security council.
President Vladimir Putin appointed deputy defence minister Andrei Bulyga to the security council.
Bulyga previously served as deputy minister in charge of logistical support since March 2024.
Colonel-General Alexander Sanchik has been appointed as a new deputy defence minister.
These appointments follow a series of corruption cases involving over a dozen individuals, including former deputy defence ministers.
Long-serving Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was appointed secretary of the security council in May 2024.
