India Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese R-134a
The Indian government has decided to put a special tax called an anti-dumping duty on a gas called R-134a that comes from China.
This gas is used in things like car air conditioners and refrigerators.
The government did this because they found out that China was selling this gas in India for much lower prices than what it costs to make it here.
This was hurting Indian companies that make the same gas.
The tax will last for five years and is calculated based on the difference between a set price and the actual price the gas is sold for in India.
The government also put a similar tax on a plastic additive from Vietnam for the same reason.
India imposes 5-year anti-dumping duty on Chinese R-134a to protect domestic industry.
Duty calculated as the difference between reference prices ($4,423-$4,583 per ton for identified producers, $5,251 for others) and actual landed value.
R-134a is used in automobile air conditioners, home refrigerators, plastic foam blowing, and other applications.
DGTR investigation found dumping and material injury to domestic industry.
Additional anti-dumping duty imposed on Calcium Carbonate Filler Masterbatch from Vietnam.
