Meta unveils Muse Glimmer AI; Zuckerberg urges fewer US barriers

Meta, a big social media company, made a new computer helper called an AI, named Muse Glimmer.

This AI is small enough to run on a normal computer at home instead of needing giant machine rooms.

It is an open AI, which means other people can look at how it works and change it.

Meta's leader, Mark Zuckerberg, says the United States should change its rules so American companies can build these AIs more easily.

He says China is currently ahead of America in open AI.

Open AIs are often cheaper, so businesses like them.

Some companies, like OpenAI and Anthropic, keep their AIs closed so only they control them.

Zuckerberg also wants Meta's safety decisions checked by outside board members.

Meta plans to make even more of these AIs soon, and Zuckerberg wrote a very long essay about his ideas.

Zuckerberg believes helping American companies will help the United States beat China in the AI race.
