House Democrats raise conflict-of-interest alarm over Trump minerals deals

Some important people in the US government called the House of Representatives are worried about deals the president's team is making to get special rocks and metals called critical minerals.

These minerals are used to make things like electric car batteries, computers, and defense equipment.

More than 50 lawmakers wrote a letter to four top officials in the president's administration.

They are worried that some of the president's friends and family members might make money from these deals.

They are also worried that if the deals fail, regular people who pay taxes might lose money.

The lawmakers say the deals should be more open and fair.

They also say the government should protect the environment and workers' rights.

The lawmakers want the administration to answer ten questions about the deals.

The deals involve many countries, including Kazakhstan, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The lawmakers say they still want the US to get more minerals at home and depend less on China.
