Iran Offers Seven-Day Hormuz Reopening If US Eases Pressure

Iran Offers Seven-Day Hormuz Reopening If US Eases Pressure

Iran says it can reopen the Strait of Hormuz in seven days.

It wants the United States to reduce military pressure first.

Iran also wants the United States to lift restrictions on Iranian ports.

Iran is asking Washington to officially say it supports solving the conflict through diplomacy.

The two countries would then need to agree on a schedule for talks.

Iranian representatives are in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

They say mediators could help discuss a possible agreement.

Iran said it sent its proposal through mediators on September 16.

Iran has also warned that it would retaliate if U.S.-supported military operations restart.
