West Bengal Extends Potato Storage Period
The government of West Bengal has decided to keep potatoes in cold storages for a longer time.
Usually, they have to be taken out by 30 November, but this year they can stay until 31 December.
This is because there are still a lot of potatoes in storage, and they want to make sure people have enough to eat in December and January 2026.
The cold storage owners can charge a little extra money for keeping the potatoes longer.
This decision was made to help farmers and make sure there are enough potatoes in the market.
West Bengal extends potato storage period to 31 December 2025.
Extension aims to meet domestic market requirements until new crop arrival.
Additional rent of Rs 20.22 per quintal for south Bengal and Rs 20.66 per quintal for north Bengal.
Decision made to safeguard interests of hirers and ensure market availability.
Notification issued with approval of competent authority and in public interest.
