South Korea and US pledge cooperation amid North Korea tensions

South Korea and the United States talked about North Korea’s nuclear weapons issue.

Their foreign ministers, Cho Hyun and Marco Rubio, held a phone call.

They agreed to keep working closely together.

They said cooperation was important for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

They also wanted to keep their joint defense strong.

Cho said South Korea would support efforts to restart talks between the United States and North Korea.

The allies still have disagreements about military exercises, trade and investment.

The ministers agreed to meet again for more detailed discussions.
