Odisha Tops ABPMJAY Card Distribution in 9 Months
Odisha has become the top state in India for giving out health cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) in just nine months.
The scheme, started on April 11, 2025, helps families get free healthcare up to Rs 5 lakh per year, with an extra Rs 5 lakh for women.
The state also ranks fifth in giving out special health cards for senior citizens above 70 years old.
Over 22.41 lakh senior citizens can benefit from this.
The minister and health officials talked about making the scheme even better by including traditional medicine and using digital technology for better healthcare services.
Odisha secured the first position in ABPMJAY card distribution within nine months of its launch.
Around 80% of Odisha's 4.5 crore population is covered under the converged scheme with Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana (GJAY).
