AI to Drive India's Intelligent Farming Revolution
Indian farmers face many challenges like not having enough water, unpredictable weather, and smaller pieces of land to farm.
A new idea is to use artificial intelligence (AI) to help farmers.
AI can give farmers advice on when to water their crops, what to plant, and where to sell their produce.
This can help farmers save water, use less electricity, and grow more food.
The plan is to create a big system that connects farmers, researchers, and technology.
This system would use things like satellites, sensors, and computers to give farmers the best advice.
It could also create new jobs for people in villages.
The goal is to make farming better for everyone and help farmers earn more money.
AI can help Indian farmers save water, reduce electricity use, and improve crop yields by providing data-driven advice.
A proposed digital framework called Mission Krishi-Gyan aims to connect farmers, researchers, and technology for better agricultural intelligence.
AI-enabled irrigation and advisory systems have already increased yields by 40–50% while slashing water use in some districts.
The plan includes creating new jobs for village scientists, drone operators, data technicians, and agritech entrepreneurs.
The success of this vision depends on inclusive and collaborative efforts combining government leadership, startup innovation, academic research, and farmer participation.
