Maharashtra to Get First AAI-Run Heliport in Pune
Maharashtra is building a new heliport in Pune, run by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
This means there will be a safe place for helicopters to land and take off, managed by the government.
Pune has a lot of helicopters, more than any other city in the country, and this new heliport will give them a dedicated space.
The government is taking over the old gliding center and is working on making the heliport.
This is a positive step as the heliport will be safer than other privately owned helipads.
Also, Pune airport will be able to handle larger airplanes by the year 2027.
