BCB Faces Backlash Over Tamim Iqbal Remark
There's a big argument in Bangladesh cricket.
A leader from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) called a famous former cricket player, Tamim Iqbal, 'an Indian agent' on Facebook.
This made many current and former players, like Taskin Ahmed and Mominul Haque, very angry.
They said the comment was disrespectful and hurtful.
The players' association also protested and asked for a public apology.
This all started because Tamim had advised the BCB to think carefully before deciding whether to play in the T20 World Cup in India next year.
The BCB is also facing a deadline from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to decide their participation, with the threat of forfeiting points if they don't play in India.
BCB official M Nazmul Islam called former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal 'an Indian agent' on Facebook, sparking outrage.
Current and former Bangladesh cricketers, including Taskin Ahmed and Mominul Haque, condemned the remark as disrespectful and insulting.
The Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) demanded a public apology and accountability for the BCB official's actions.
The controversy stems from Tamim's advice to the BCB not to make emotional decisions regarding the T20 World Cup in India in 2026.
The BCB is maintaining a defiant stance of not playing their matches in India during the T20 World Cup, with the ICC setting a deadline for a decision.
