Nepal Flood Toll Crosses 1,000 as Rescue Searches Continue

Severe floods have caused a major disaster in Nepal and China.

More than 1,000 people have reportedly died, although reports give slightly different totals.

In Nepal, officials reported 987 deaths, while China reported 16.

Nearly 4,000 people are still missing, including hundreds of foreigners.

Rescue teams have saved at least 11,814 people.

Helicopters and other aircraft are helping reach communities cut off by damaged roads, bridges and landslides.

Indian tunnel-rescue teams are searching difficult hydropower tunnels in Nepal.

More rain and possible glacier collapses could cause additional flooding, so the next few days remain dangerous.
