Allahabad HC Directs UP DGP on Corruption Act Cases
The Allahabad High Court has asked the top police officer in Uttar Pradesh to make sure that cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act are handled properly.
The court said that in many cases, the way money is recovered and sealed is not done correctly, which makes the cases doubtful.
The court was hearing the bail application of a man named Suresh Prakash Gautam, who was caught taking a bribe.
The court said that the way the bribe was recovered and the fact that the complainant had earlier accused others of trying to frame him, makes the case against Gautam not completely clear.
The court has asked the state government to look into this and make sure that such cases are handled properly in the future.
The Allahabad High Court directed the UP DGP and Principal Secretary (Home) to issue necessary directions regarding the conduct of Prevention of Corruption Act cases.
The court found shortcomings in the recovery and seizure of money in the case against Suresh Prakash Gautam, a labour enforcement officer accused of taking a bribe.
The court noted that the bribe money was not sealed at the spot and the recovery memo was not prepared on the spot, raising doubts about the integrity of the trap proceedings.
The court also considered the complainant's earlier accusation that some officers were trying to implicate him in false cases, which added to the doubts about the case.
The court's order was passed on December 1, 2025, and it directed the Registrar General to forward the copy of the order to the concerned authorities for necessary compliance.
