North Korea Launches Ballistic Missile Toward Sea, Neighbors Say

North Korea launched a missile toward the sea on Saturday.

South Korea and Japan reported the launch.

South Korea said it came from the Wonsan area at about 6:30 in the morning.

Japan’s coast guard said the object appeared to have come down and warned ships nearby to be careful.

South Korea said it was watching for more launches.

It also said it would share information with the United States and Japan.

South Korea’s leaders held an emergency meeting to discuss what happened.

The launch came after Kim Yo Jong rejected South Korea’s demand for an apology over a mine blast that injured two South Korean soldiers.
