NEET Aspirant Death: Semen Traces Found, Police Suspended
An 18-year-old girl who was preparing for the NEET exam was found unconscious in her hostel room in Patna.
She died in the hospital on January 11 after being in a coma.
Her family said she was sexually assaulted, but the police initially said she died from taking too many sleeping pills and had typhoid.
A forensic report later found traces of semen on her clothes, which suggests she might have been assaulted.
The police have suspended two officials for not doing their job properly, and a special team is investigating the case.
Doctors are still looking at all the information to understand what really happened.
The special team will now try to match the DNA from the semen found on her clothes with possible suspects to find out what happened.
Forensic report found traces of semen on the victim's leggings, suggesting possible sexual assault.
Two police officials were suspended for dereliction of duty in handling the case.
The victim, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant, was found unconscious in her hostel room and died on January 11.
Initial medical reports suggested the cause of death was consumption of sleeping pills and typhoid, but the post-mortem report indicated sexual violence could not be ruled out.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will obtain a DNA profile from the semen traces and match it with suspects.
