Explosives Found in Vijayawada Bus After Luggage Mix-Up
A bag filled with explosives was found at a bus station in Vijayawada.
A worker named Asif Ali noticed that his own bag was missing.
He found another bag in its place and opened it.
Inside were materials used for blasting rocks in quarries.
He quickly told the police.
A bomb disposal team safely secured the materials.
Police think another passenger may have accidentally taken Asif’s bag because the bags looked alike.
They are also investigating whether the explosives were being carried illegally for sale.
Carrying such materials on public transport requires a valid licence.
A bag containing 49 ammonium nitrate slurry sticks and 50 detonators was found at Vijayawada’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Bus Station.
Daily wage worker Asif Ali alerted police after discovering that his luggage had been replaced by the explosives-filled bag.
A bomb disposal squad secured the materials, which police said are used to detonate rocks in quarry mining.
Police suspect passengers carrying similarly sized and colored bags may have picked up the wrong luggage.
Police registered a case, reviewed CCTV footage, and are investigating how the explosives were transported and where they came from.
