BAT Sells $1.5 Billion Stake in ITC, Stock Dips
Imagine a big company called British American Tobacco (BAT) that owns part of another company in India called ITC.
BAT decided to sell some of its shares in ITC, like selling slices of a pie.
They sold about $1.5 billion worth of shares, which is a lot of money!
Because of this, the price of ITC's shares went down a little bit.
BAT will still own the biggest part of ITC.
They also said they'll buy back more of their own company's shares because of this sale.
It's like BAT is reshuffling its investments.
British American Tobacco (BAT) sold a $1.5 billion stake in India's ITC.
The sale involved 313 million shares at 413 rupees each, a 2.5% stake.
ITC's stock price dropped nearly 3% after the announcement.
BAT will remain ITC's largest shareholder post-sale.
BAT will increase its 2025 share buyback program by 200 million pounds.
