Coupang: Former Employee Leaked 3,000 Customer Records
Coupang, a big online shopping company in South Korea, said that a former worker took information from about 3,000 customers.
The worker could have seen information from 33 million accounts, but only saved data from 3,000.
The company says no important information like passwords or payment details was taken, and the data wasn't shared outside the company.
The government is still checking what happened and disagrees with Coupang's announcement, saying the investigation isn't finished yet.
Coupang identified a former employee responsible for a data breach affecting 33 million customer accounts.
Only data from approximately 3,000 accounts was saved and later deleted by the suspect.
The accessed information included names, email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses, but no sensitive data like payment information was breached.
Coupang claims no evidence of external data sharing was found, and all devices used to access and store customer information have been secured.
The government disputes Coupang's announcement, stating that the results of a private-public joint team's investigation are not yet available.
