Telangana Develops Backwardness Index After Caste Survey
Telangana is creating a special index to measure how different groups of people are doing in terms of their social and economic situations.
This index, called the CBI, will use information collected from a large survey of people in the state.
The CBI looks at things like education, jobs, and living conditions.
The goal is to help the government understand which groups need the most support.
Experts are using data from the 2024 SEEEPC Survey, which includes over 3.55 crore individuals across 243 sub-castes.
They are also planning to use an AI tool to help analyze the data.
The Telangana Planning and Development Society (TGPDS) is developing a composite backwardness index (CBI) for sub-castes.
The CBI will use data from the 2024 Social, Educational, Employment, Economic, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) Survey.
The index aims to provide a statistically grounded measure of relative backwardness across communities.
The expert group is led by retired Justice Sudarshan Reddy.
An AI-powered natural language interface is recommended for data analysis.
