Rajnath Singh Calls Congress Vande Mataram Stand Unconstitutional

Rajnath Singh criticised the Congress party over its position on Vande Mataram.

Congress has reaffirmed a 1937 decision concerning singing only the song’s first two stanzas.

Singh said this position was unconstitutional and disrespectful to a national song.

He argued that Parliament’s laws must be followed by everyone.

He also said refusing to honour Vande Mataram could raise questions about patriotism.

Singh connected the old decision to Muslim League demands and the events that led to Partition.

Congress and the BJP disagree about how the song should be treated.

The argument is part of a larger political debate about Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana.
