MCA Eases KYC Rules for Directors
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) in India has made it easier for directors in companies to follow the rules.
They have changed the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements so that directors don't have to do it every year.
Instead, they only need to do it every three years.
The next time directors need to do this is by June 30, 2028.
This change is to make things simpler for directors and help them follow the rules more easily.
The new rules also allow directors to update their contact information and reactivate their Document Identification Number (DIN) using a simplified form.
The changes were announced on December 31, 2025, and will start being used from March 31, 2026.
MCA has relaxed KYC norms for directors in all companies, extending the filing cycle from annual to once every three years.
The amended rules, notified on December 31, 2025, will come into effect from March 31, 2026.
A revised KYC form allows for compliance, updating contact information, and reactivating DIN.
Verification through digital signature is mandatory only for updates to mobile number, email address, or residential address.
Directors who have completed KYC to date are covered under the new provisions, with the next filing due by June 30, 2028.
