Madhya Pradesh Tables Uniform Civil Code Bill
The government of Madhya Pradesh has introduced a new law called the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
This law aims to make sure everyone in the state follows the same rules, no matter their religion.
The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, said this law will help Muslim women the most by solving problems like 'halala' and triple talaq.
The UCC will also stop men from having more than one wife and make sure all children have equal rights.
The government hopes this law will be passed soon and will benefit everyone in the state.
They are also working on other important issues like fighting drugs and improving the police force.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the tabling of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the state assembly.
The UCC aims to provide a uniform law for all citizens, benefiting Muslim women by addressing issues like 'halala' and triple talaq.
Key provisions include criminalizing triple talaq, prohibiting polygamy, and mandating the registration of marriages and divorces.
The bill proposes equal legal rights for children born to married parents, whether biological, adopted, or through surrogacy or ART, and equal inheritance rights for all children.
Scheduled Tribes are exempted from the bill's scope, and the government claims to have support from a large number of Muslim women.
