Jind‑Sonipat Line Not to Be Doubled, Says Minister
The Jind‑Sonipat railway line in Haryana is 90 kilometres long and is a single‑track route.
It carries about 10 passenger trains and 8 freight trains each day, and the railway says this is enough for now.
The minister said the line would only be doubled if traffic grows in the future.
Some new tracks and loops have already been built to make the line run better.
A new hydrogen‑powered train service started on July 19, 2026, to help people travel more cleanly.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says the Jind‑Sonipat line has enough capacity for current traffic.
The 90‑km single‑line route handles about 10 passenger and 8 freight trains daily.
Doubling would depend on future traffic demand and line capacity.
Infrastructure upgrades include a chord line, loop lines at Madlauda and Pilu Khera stations.
A hydrogen‑powered Namo Green Rail service began operating on July 19, 2026.
