Passenger Gets Rs 1.06 Lakh After Cancelled Covid Flight

A passenger booked a flight from Amritsar to Frankfurt for August 2020.

The flight was cancelled during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said he had paid about Rs 1.01 lakh for a refundable ticket but did not get the money back promptly.

The airline said the ticket cost Rs 84,275 and that it had sent that amount to the booking platform.

The platform said a technical error stopped the refund from reaching the passenger.

The passenger took the dispute to a consumer commission.

The commission noted that Rs 1 lakh had already been paid to him.

It ordered another Rs 1,234, plus Rs 4,000 in compensation and Rs 1,000 for legal costs.

Altogether, the relief came to about Rs 1.06 lakh.
