US Automakers Press Congress to Restrict Chinese Vehicles

US car companies want Congress to limit Chinese electric vehicles.

They are worried that Chinese companies receive government subsidies that help them make cars cheaply.

China currently sells and exports more electric vehicles than any other country.

Chinese companies also make many of the batteries used in these vehicles.

John Bozzella, who leads an auto industry group, asked lawmakers to act before the end of the year.

He also warned about software and computer equipment connected to the cars.

The automakers say Chinese vehicles could take a large share of markets around the world.

They fear this could make it harder for US companies to compete.

The article says similar concerns could also arise in India.
