RBI Postpones Basel III Disclosure Rules to 2027
The Reserve Bank of India, which runs the country’s banking rules, decided to delay new rules that banks must follow to show how safe they are.
The new rules will start in April 2027 instead of the end of 2026.
Banks will have to report their safety data every quarter, every six months, and once a year.
Public sector banks won’t have to share information about how much they pay their staff.
The bank also shortened how long the reports must stay online from ten years to five years.
RBI delays final Basel III disclosure guidelines to April 2027.
Banks must align disclosures with the ECL framework effective April 2027.
Quarterly disclosures begin June 2027; semi-annual September 2027; annual March 2028.
Public sector banks exempt from remuneration disclosures.
Archive period for Pillar 3 reports reduced from 10 to 5 years.
