Jalpaiguri Bank Launches Insurance for Small Traders

Jalpaiguri Bank Launches Insurance for Small Traders

The Jalpaiguri Central Cooperative Bank has started a new insurance plan for small and medium shopkeepers.

This plan, called the Business Guard Package Insurance Policy, helps shopkeepers protect their businesses from fire, natural disasters, theft, and other problems.

To get this insurance, shopkeepers need to open a bank account with a small deposit and show their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and trade license.

The insurance covers losses from different events and even the death of the shop owner if it happens inside the shop.

The bank has found that there are about 38 lakh small and medium shops in the area and is working to tell shopkeepers about this new insurance plan.

Trade bodies have welcomed this idea but suggested that the minimum deposit to open the account should be lower.
