Supreme Court rules vehicle presence alone insufficient for compensation

Supreme Court rules vehicle presence alone insufficient for compensation

The Supreme Court of India has ruled that just because a vehicle was involved in events leading to someone's death, it doesn't automatically mean the vehicle owner or insurer has to pay compensation.

The court said that to get compensation, people must show a clear link between the vehicle and the death or injury.

In this case, a man named Anand was last seen in a car driven by Dilip Agarwal.

Later, Anand's body was found, and his family asked for compensation.

The lower courts gave them money, but the Supreme Court said no because there wasn't enough proof that the car caused Anand's death.

The court explained that just being in a car doesn't mean the car is responsible for what happened.
