Arattai's Encryption Upgrade Fails to Boost User Growth
Arattai is a messaging app made by Zoho.
They recently added a feature called end-to-end encryption to make chats more private.
They hoped this would make more people use the app, but it didn't.
The number of people using Arattai every month went down from 14 million to 7.4 million.
Even though Arattai was downloaded a lot in October, most people are still using WhatsApp.
It's hard for new apps to compete with big ones like WhatsApp because everyone's friends are already on them.
Arattai is now ranked lower in the app stores and isn't growing as fast as before.
Arattai's monthly active users halved from 14 million in October to 7.4 million in November.
End-to-end encryption feature launched in November failed to revive user interest.
Arattai has been downloaded nearly 17 million times in India, with 75% of downloads in October 2025.
WhatsApp's dominance and network effect hinder Arattai's adoption.
Arattai's ranking dropped significantly in both Google Play and Apple's App Store.
