Japanese woman honours late husband's final wish in Uttarakhand

Japanese woman honours late husband's final wish in Uttarakhand

A woman named Miyako lives in Japan, which is very far away from India.

She came all the way to a town called Bageshwar in India.

She brought the ashes of her husband, Robert, who was from America.

Robert loved Indian culture and spiritual traditions very much.

Before he passed away, he asked Miyako to do something special for him.

He wanted a Hindu ceremony called Asthi Visarjan, where ashes are placed into a holy river.

Local priests helped Miyako perform prayers near the Saryu River.

After the rituals, Robert's ashes were gently put into the river.

People who live in Bageshwar and pilgrims who were visiting watched the ceremony.

They were touched that Miyako travelled so far to honour her husband's last wish.
