Amazon Introduces System to Monitor Office Attendance
Amazon has introduced a new system that lets managers track how often employees come to the office and how long they stay.
This system, which started in December 2023, looks at attendance over an eight-week period and flags employees who don't meet the company's office rules.
Amazon says the goal is to promote teamwork and in-person collaboration.
Employees who spend less than four hours a day in the office, don't come in at all, or work from different buildings are identified by the system.
Managers are advised to use judgment before taking any action against employees flagged by the system.
Some people online are not happy with this new system, saying it feels like too much monitoring and makes working from home harder.
Other big companies like Samsung and Dell are also using similar systems to track office attendance.
