USCIS to Raise H-1B and Work Visa Fees
The United States is going to make premium processing for work and immigration visas more expensive starting March 1, 2026.
This includes visas like H-1B, L-1, O-1, and others.
The new fees will be higher to cover inflation and help the government process applications faster.
People who need these visas, like foreign workers and students, will have to pay more if they want their applications to be processed quickly.
The government says this will help reduce the number of applications waiting to be processed and improve the service.
There are also changes to how H-1B visas are given out, with a new system that favors higher-paid and more skilled workers.
USCIS will increase premium processing fees for work and immigration visas from March 1, 2026.
Fees for H-1B, L-1, O-1, P-1, TN (Form I-129), and I-140 immigrant petitions will rise to $2,965.
I-539 (F, J, M visas) and I-765 (work authorisation) fees will also increase.
The fee increase aims to reflect inflation and fund faster processing, reduce backlogs, and improve services.
The new H-1B lottery system will prioritise higher-paid and higher-skilled workers, effective February 27.
