Kushner Withdraws from Serbia Development Project
Jared Kushner, who is married to the U.S. President's daughter, had a plan to build a big project in Serbia's capital, Belgrade.
The project included a hotel, apartments, shops, and offices.
The Serbian government had given him a very long lease for the land.
However, many people in Serbia were against this plan.
They wanted to keep the old buildings as a reminder of a time when NATO bombed the area.
Some officials were accused of doing something illegal to allow the project to go ahead.
Because of all this opposition, Kushner's company decided to cancel the project.
A leader in Serbia's government said this is bad news because it means Serbia will lose money from foreign investors.
Kushner's company is now looking to invest in another country instead.
Jared Kushner's firm, Affinity Global Development, withdraws from a luxury development project in Belgrade, Serbia.
The project, backed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, faced opposition and protests over the preservation of a NATO bombing site.
Serbian prosecutors indicted three officials for allegedly illegally removing the protected status of the buildings.
The withdrawal is seen as a loss of foreign investment for Serbia, with Milos Vucevic, head of the ruling SNS party, criticizing the protesters.
Kushner's firm is now reportedly investing in a project on the Albanian coast.
