Jamia Millia Islamia University to Launch Library Science Department
Jamia Millia Islamia, a university, is starting a new department all about libraries!
The government has given the okay for this new department.
It's been almost 40 years since they first started teaching about libraries without having a real department.
Now, they will have teachers and a proper place to study libraries.
The university leaders are happy because they believe libraries are super important for learning and doing research, especially in today's digital world.
They want to train future librarians well and also study old Indian knowledge.
It's like giving the university a big boost!
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will establish a Department of Library and Information Science.
The Education Ministry approved six teaching posts for the new department.
The university has offered a Library Science course since 1985 without permanent faculty.
Vice Chancellor Mazhar Asif views libraries as crucial for research and knowledge.
