Bengal Food Safety Crackdown Targets Park Street Restaurants

Bengal Food Safety Crackdown Targets Park Street Restaurants

Food safety officials checked restaurants on Kolkata’s Park Street.

They looked at kitchens, freezers, food supplies and licences.

They also checked whether raw and cooked food had been stored safely.

Some restaurants were reported to have serious problems, while others passed the checks.

Officials found expired water bottles at one establishment and issued notices.

The inspections were part of a larger drive across West Bengal.

In total, many restaurants had problems, and some were sealed or lost their licences.

Food samples were collected so they could be tested.
