Dow Falls 1,100 Points on Fed Rate Decision, Inflation Fears
The Dow, a big list of 30 big U.S. companies, dropped a lot of points on July 29 because the Federal Reserve decided not to change interest rates.
This made people worry that prices might stay high for a long time.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq also fell.
The Fed Chair, Kevin Warsh, said there is no quick fix for inflation.
Big tech companies Microsoft and Meta reported earnings; Microsoft did better than expected, while Meta did worse, which also affected the market.
The big bond prices went up, meaning their yields went down, and the dollar fell a bit.
The market is still nervous about what will happen next.
Dow dropped 1,100 points, worst day since April 2025, after Fed left rates unchanged at 3.5‑3.75%.
S&P 500 fell 1.5%, Nasdaq 1.7%, Nasdaq 100 over 2%, entering a technical correction zone.
10‑year Treasury yield rose to 4.7%; 30‑year yield hit 5.2%, highest since 2007.
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh warned no quick fix for inflation, calling the battle tough and long.
Microsoft beat earnings expectations, Meta missed, affecting Nasdaq futures and market sentiment.
