TMC Boycotts Committee on Bills to Remove Ministers
Three bills were introduced to allow the removal of ministers in custody.
A committee called the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was formed to review these bills.
However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) says it won't join because they think the JPC is pointless.
They believe the government is using the bills to intimidate the opposition.
The bills allow the removal of the Prime Minister, chief ministers, and other ministers if held in custody for 30 consecutive days.
The BJP criticized the TMC's decision.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) will not nominate a member to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
The JPC is to scrutinize three bills that enable the removal of jailed ministers, including the Prime Minister and chief ministers.
The TMC views the JPC as a 'farce' and a waste of time.
The INDIA parties oppose the bills as an attack on federalism.
The BJP castigated the TMC's decision to boycott the JPC.
