Jyotirgamaya Mission Empowers Transgender Persons in Visakhapatnam
In Visakhapatnam, a special program called Jyotirgamaya was started by the police to help transgender people and beggars.
The police noticed that transgender people were often ignored and had to ask for money.
So, they decided to help them by giving them jobs and a place to live.
The program has already helped more than 250 people, including 25 transgender persons who got jobs as sanitation workers.
The goal is to make sure everyone in Visakhapatnam can live with dignity and respect.
The local government and the city's mayor also support this program.
The Jyotirgamaya mission was launched to empower transgender persons and make Visakhapatnam a beggar-free city.
25 transgender persons received appointment letters for jobs as sanitation workers and other positions.
Over 250 individuals, including beggars, have been rescued from the streets and provided with safe shelter.
The initiative is supported by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and the State government under N Chandrababu Naidu.
