Atiqa Mir Makes Historic WSK Debut in Italy
Atiqa Mir, an 11-year-old girl from India, just made a big splash in a major racing event in Italy.
She is one of the youngest drivers and the only girl in a group of 37 very experienced drivers.
In her very first race, she did incredibly well by finishing second in the qualifying round, just a tiny bit behind the first-place driver.
She also set the fastest lap in one of the practice races.
Unfortunately, her race car didn't start in an important race, but she still managed to finish 14th overall.
Her dad, who is also a former race car driver, is very proud of her and says she has a lot of natural talent.
This is a big deal because no Indian has ever done this well in this type of race before.
Atiqa Mir, 11, became the first Indian to secure second place in qualifying at the WSK Super Master Karting Series in Italy.
She set the fastest lap in Heat 1 and started on the front row in all three heat races.
A mechanical failure in the pre-final relegated her to 18th place, but she recovered to finish 14th in the final.
Her father, Asif Mir, praised her performance, noting her natural talent and speed against more experienced drivers.
This debut marks a historic moment as she is the only female and one of the youngest drivers in the male-dominated OKNJ class.
