Centre Directs Haryana to Hold DISHA Committee Meetings Independently
Imagine two important clubs for your town.
One club, called DISHA, checks if special programs from the national government are working well, and a state leader is in charge of it.
The other club listens to people's complaints, and the local Member of Parliament (MP) is in charge of that.
The Haryana government had told everyone to hold meetings for both clubs on the same day.
But an MP said this was a bad idea because the clubs have different jobs and a meeting can take a very long time.
He worried it would make it hard to do the important work.
So, the national government agreed and told Haryana to hold the meetings for each club separately, so they can do their jobs properly and efficiently.
The central government has instructed Haryana to hold DISHA Committee meetings independently.
This directive reverses a July order from the Haryana government for simultaneous meetings of DISHA and Grievance Redressal Committees.
Ambala Congress MP Varun Chaudhary raised objections, stating the state's order undermined the distinct mandates and roles of MPs.
The central ministry cited that joint meetings may not conform to DISHA's mandate and could be impractical, potentially affecting the quality of deliberations.
Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confirmed the ministry's communication to Haryana, emphasizing independent meetings align with guidelines for effective program monitoring.
