BIS Revises Standards for Insulation and Food Packaging
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has updated two important rules.
One is about a special material called mineral wool, which is used to keep buildings warm and quiet.
The other rule is about special boxes used to pack liquid food like milk and drinks.
These new rules will start in July 2026.
The BIS does this to make sure things are safe and good quality.
Some companies think they might need more time to get used to the new rules, but others think it will help them sell their products better, even outside India.
The rules will help keep food safe and last longer.
BIS has amended standards for bonded mineral wool and paper-based multilayer cartons.
The revised standards will come into effect after a six-month transition period, with full enforcement by July 2026.
Mineral wool is used for thermal and acoustic insulation in construction and industrial sectors.
Paper-based cartons are widely used by dairy, beverage, and food processing companies.
The updates aim to align domestic norms with global safety and quality requirements.
