Delhi HC Grants Bail to Ethiopian National in Narcotics Case
An Ethiopian man named Habiob Bedru Omer was caught at the Delhi airport for allegedly hiding drugs in his body.
The Customs department took him into custody, but the Delhi High Court said this was wrong because they didn't follow the rules.
Specifically, they didn't bring him before a judge within the right time frame.
The court said even though he was getting medical help to remove the drugs, he should still have been brought before a judge.
The court also pointed out that the police, his family, and the Ethiopian Embassy weren't told about his situation.
The court decided to let him go because his rights were violated during the arrest.
