India-US Trade Talks Drive September 1 Exporter Meeting

India-US Trade Talks Drive September 1 Exporter Meeting

India and the United States are discussing a trade agreement.

Trade means countries buying and selling goods to each other.

India’s Commerce Ministry will meet exporters on September 1 to learn how businesses are doing in the US market.

The meeting will cover medicines, textiles, cars, agriculture, chemicals and other products.

Officials will also discuss how US tariffs, or taxes on imported goods, are affecting Indian companies.

India wants its exporters to have a better tariff position than competitors from other Asian countries.

Minister Piyush Goyal is expected to visit the United States later in September for more discussions.

India sells more goods to the US than it buys, but that difference became smaller because US imports into India increased faster.
