Special Court Hears Arguments on Rahul Gandhi's Citizenship
A special court in Lucknow heard arguments about whether Rahul Gandhi, a leader from the Congress party, has two citizenships.
A man named S Vignesh Shishir said that Rahul Gandhi has citizenship in two countries and that this means he should not be allowed to be a member of the Indian parliament from Rae Bareli.
The judge, Alok Verma, listened to the arguments.
This is important because if someone has two citizenships, they might not be allowed to hold certain political offices in India.
A special MP/MLA court in Lucknow heard arguments on Rahul Gandhi's citizenship.
Complainant S Vignesh Shishir argued that Rahul Gandhi has dual citizenship.
The court is considering whether Rahul Gandhi's election as Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli should be cancelled.
Special judge Alok Verma presided over the hearing.
